Comments: The Leisure of the Theory Class: Academy Hacking with McKenzie Wark

This is such a "delicate" and "delicious" (quoting Caetano) conversation and it ends just in the middle... as the Sisters of Mercy would say, "I want more"... Well, i´ve met mckenzie wark @ ICA in "The Hub" a.k.a.Boston,lol, in 2004 due to his release of "a hacker manifesto" and we had a nice chat (i also interviwed him for a brazilian journal, it´s in his site) and i agree with you mark dery, even though he said that his work doesn´t have much in common with Baudrillards work, i can see some resemblance. Despite that, the description of Baudrillard´s lecture @ New School looks is very much alike the situation i´ve saw him in Brazil (at Porto Alegre in 1997) in a lecture. Even the people has acted the same way. lol! Well, just to finish, i want to say that i´m very fond of the work of both of you, mark and wark and i always tell people (my students) to read your works. It´s such a shame that most of the people don´t have access to your works in portuguese.

You'll live to regret that wish ("I want more"), Adriana. (Just kidding.) Thanks for your kind words. One of my books (ESCAPE VELOCITY) Is translated into Spanish, which my Brazilian friends tell me they can read, if they squint hard enough. It's not Portguese, obviously, but the two languages share some genetic material, don't they? In any event, thanks.

Hi, Mark, thanks for your comments on my comments. I know this spanish translation and it´s fine. I, obviously, would prefer that everybody could read in english just like i did, but, unfortunately, most of the people here don´t read even in portuguese (lol), imagine in english... i´ll try the spanish version anyway with some students. thanks!
PS: when will your next book be released?
